How to Determine Quality of Synthetic Artificial Ice Rink Panel

If you are planning to install your own artificial ice rink, and you are looking for the synthetic ice panel, quality may be the most important matter that you concerned. There are 3 things you must know before you place the order.

1. Processing Method
Normally there are 2 processing method in the market, extrusion and mould pressing. Extrusion is actually not suitable to make synthetic ice rink panel, it can make the surface SEEMS like it is smooth, BUT it is soft, remains scratches, the life is short.

You must make sure your panel is made by mould pressing method, only mould pressing panel is durable and the only good way to make synthetic ice panel.

2. Molecular Weight
Molecular weight determines the abrasion resistance performance and smoothness of a synthetic ice panel. Normally, the molecular weight is 5~6 million. Plastic with this high molecular weight can be only processed by mould pressing. Synthetic ice rink panel is made of UHMWPE, ultra high molecular weight plastic. compares with HDPE (high density plastic), it is more expensive, but extreme glice and durable. the service life is more than 10 years.
So when you buying synthetic ice panel, make sure it is made of UHMWPE and contains at least 5 million molecular weight.

3. No Thickness Difference
All of our  ice rink panel is processed by a sanding machine before cutting the jigsaw edge.  the sanding process make the synthetic ice rink panel extreme smooth. It guarantee there is no thickness difference for each panel. In this way, you can realize seamless connection, there wont be even a slight edge between two panels, they joint together just like one natural panel.
